| Mayim Bialik on Frozen: I HATE That Movie! - The <b>Hollywood Gossip</b> Posted: 17 Sep 2014 06:20 AM PDT Mayim Bialik is on the warpath these days. Having previously made headlines with a blog post calling out Ariana Grande, she's taking on an even more popular and unexpected target today: Disney's widely acclaimed flick Frozen! Mayim straight up hates Frozen, acknowledging "I know everybody loved Frozen and that I am going to get so much hate for this. But I'm just keeping it real, yo." Titled "Why My Sons and I Hate the Movie Frozen," The Big Bang Theory star, who has a Ph.D. in neuroscience, offers some clear reasons why:  "Sure, it's sort of hidden, but the search for a man/love/Prince is still the reigning plot line in the movie, as it is with pretty much all movies for young people which are animated." "The sister's desire to marry this guy she just met, and the other sister getting mad ... [the identification of a woman is based] on her desire and search to meet a man." "I've had just enough [of this] finding a man business in almost every kids' movie." She goes on to explain that she has beef with the way the film bashes men, too: "What happens in Frozen? The Prince/hero turns out to be a scheming villain." "He pretended to love her and then he double crosses her and she gets the lesson taught to her not to trust those nasty scheming conniving men." "Because you know, men can't be trusted? Meh," Bialik laments. Her "biggest problem with [the] movie," though? "The way the female characters are drawn and animated. The male characters look like cartoon men. They have some exaggerated features, sure." "But by and large, they look like they have the proportions of human beings. Not so with our lead ladies. They have ginormous eyes. Like really ridiculously big." "Teeny-tiny ski slope noses … Barbie doll proportions of their bodies in general: tiny waists, ample busts, and huge heads. They look like dolls." "They don't look like the same species! What's up with that?!" The Big Bang Theory star does raise some valid points. Do you agree that Frozen is inappropriate for children for any or all of the above reasons? Also, are all Disney princesses similarly portrayed? Discuss. Pocahontas' low-ranking on this list has more to do with Disney's butchering of the princess' real story than anything else. She could paint with all the colors of the wind and that's pretty bad ass.  |
